Behavioral Health Specialist - reentry SUMMARY: Provide direct mental health assessments and treatment to individuals who struggle with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The therapist will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team who participates in regular team and treatment planning meetings. This mental health professional will provide direct services to the clients with mental health, substance misuse, and will engage with the client's natural support systems, probation officers, and parole officers to support a successful re-entry into the community.

Behavioral Health Specialist - reentry PRIMARY DUTIES:
Deliberately provides individual and group psychotherapy as specified (ie. CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused) in consultation with clients or site administrators to meet client's goals and objectives.
Provides psychoeducation, family support and education to consumers and their natural support systems to work on symptom management, improve family relationships and increase client autonomy.
Will instruct, assist, and support clients in developing basic living and social skill-areas that are essential for independent living including: interpersonal communications; community resource utilization and integration; relapse prevention; budgeting; healthy lifestyle skills and practices; transportation; medication monitoring; symptom management; employment related skills and transitioning to community living.
Provide ongoing assessment of client's mental health and substance use symptoms as well as their response to treatment provided. Will be responsible for adapting treatment plans as needed to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions are provided in response to changes in mental status or behavior which put clients at risk.
Provide community intervention services to alleviate or reduce a client's barriers to community integration or independent living and to minimize the risk of hospitalization or placement in a more restrictive setting.
Act as liaison and consult with families and community agencies to maintain coordination of the client's treatment process.
Collect relevant data for ongoing program evaluation and overseeing program volunteers.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Behavioral Health Specialist - reentry QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in counseling, psychology or social work experience required;

Experience working with persons from the population of focus (Co-Occuring Substance Misuse)

LPC/LCSW license is preferred

CAS/CAT/LAC license is preferred

Case management experience and experience creating and maintaining treatment and recovery plans are preferred

Behavioral Health Specialist - reentry OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of methods of psychotherapy

Knowledge of community resources

Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately

Familiarity with the DSM V and diagnostic techniques

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Good rapport with the client population

Ability to work flexible and on-call hours which may be required

COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.
