Behavioral Health Counselor

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor to join our client's team for homeless outreach services. In this role, you will provide crucial mental health support and counseling to individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them navigate through various challenges and access resources to improve their overall well-being.

Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals experiencing homelessness to identify mental health needs, substance abuse issues, and other psychosocial factors impacting their lives.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, addressing their mental health concerns, trauma history, substance abuse issues, and other co-occurring disorders.
Provide evidence-based counseling and therapeutic interventions to support clients in managing mental health symptoms, improving coping skills, and enhancing overall functioning.
Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed, responding to emergencies and ensuring clients' safety and well-being.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including case managers, outreach workers, healthcare providers, and community agencies, to coordinate services and support a holistic approach to client care.
Advocate for clients' rights and access to essential services, including housing, healthcare, substance abuse treatment, and social services, by connecting them with appropriate resources and referrals.
Conduct regular follow-up and monitoring to assess clients' progress, address barriers to treatment adherence, and adjust treatment plans as necessary to support their recovery goals.
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Stay informed about best practices, evidence-based interventions, and emerging trends in behavioral health and homeless outreach to enhance service delivery and effectiveness.
Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills, cultural competence, and knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.

Requirements:
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
Current licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of practice.
Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience providing behavioral health counseling and support services, preferably in homeless outreach or community-based settings.
Strong clinical skills in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based counseling interventions.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles, crisis intervention techniques, and harm reduction strategies.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office suite.
Commitment to cultural humility, social justice, and providing equitable access to mental health services for marginalized populations.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed to accommodate client needs and program activities.

Please note- The annual base salary range is $30/hr to $32/hr. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
