The Mission of the Human Services Department (HSD) is to transform lives. Working with our partners, we design and deliver innovative, high-quality health and human services that improve the security and promote independence for New Mexicans in their communities. HSD provides services to nearly half of all New Mexicans across the state through a comprehensive array of programs, benefits, and services such as SNAP (food assistance), Medicaid (public health insurance), behavioral health, and child support. The Department is recruiting a Director of the Behavioral Health Collaborative (BHC). The BHC was created in 2004 (HB 271), calling on state agencies involved in behavioral health prevention, treatment, and recovery to work as one to improve mental health and substance use services in New Mexico. This cabinet-level group represents 17 state agencies and the Governor's Office. The mission of the BHC is to work collectively to ensure that behavioral health in New Mexico is accessible, of high quality, collaborative, fiscally responsible, and meets the needs of our diverse population. The BHC is embedded in the Office of the Secretary at HSD; the Director will report directly to the Cabinet Secretary and is required to seek feedback and participation from all BHC agency leaders.
