This position will plan for, record, and monitor the daily behaviors of students placed in Cares School. Individuals will also receive supervision from a behavior educational consultant and program leadership. Job Responsibilities: Student Support Establishes a rapport with each student making sure that positive classroom expectations are communicated and supported. Communicates positively with students, encouraging participation and rewarding successes. Communicates and models appropriate child/adult boundaries. Participates with students in play activities when appropriate. Teacher Support Assists teacher in managing student behavior Implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans Collects data and completes assessments for goal identification and progress monitoring Generates data-based reports and progress reviews Crisis Management Maintains composure when confronted with stressful situations. Supports and encourages students who may not be able to maintain appropriate behavior. Uses the least restrictive de-escalation techniques before using an Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI). Fully participates in debriefing following the use of an ESI to decrease the potential for trauma to students and staff. Professional Responsibility Arrives on time for work, duty, and other activities. Performs extra duties as assigned. Required paperwork is in on time. Follows daily schedule and follows through on requests made by supervisor. Required Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field or education and have three (3) years of experience in a mental health or educational setting working with children with educational, communication, or behavioral difficulties, of which two (2) years must be within the CARES Program. Must enroll in and complete a 40-hour training program (conducted by a certified BCBA) based on the Registered Behavior Technician Task List and pass the RBT Competency Assessment within one (1) year and maintain annually. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English, and to communicate in a therapeutic and professional manner. Must be at least twenty-one years old, possess a valid Mississippi driver's license, and the ability to be covered by organization insurance provider.
