The Lourie Center, Adventist HealthCare, is hiring a full-time Behavior Technician in Rockville, Maryland who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The Lourie Center for Children's Social & Emotional Wellness is a private, non-profit agency with a mission to improve the social and emotional health of young children and their families through prevention, early intervention, education, research and training. As the Behavioral Technician, you will: Take the lead in any crisis situation, performing restraints or taking a student to the time-out room using CPI training. Consistently monitor all classrooms as well as the de-escalation room and time out room, anticipating and identifying situations which may be escalating for the purpose of early intervention. Process behavioral intervention data sheets by proofreading forms, ensuring accuracy of documentation, obtaining appropriate signatures and making copies to send home to parent/guardian, and communicates with parents/guardians to resolve concerns of behavioral communicated through these forms. Submit weekly reports to the Executive Director and Director of Education at The Lourie Center, and to MCPS. Be able to skillfully use a variety of verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques while maintaining a patient and respectful attitude toward students. Collect and analyzes behavioral data to construct behavior plans for each individual student based on CPI crisis development model. Qualifications Include: Bachelor's degree in education or child psychology required. Minimum of 2 years' experience with young children, preferably those with emotional/behavioral difficulties. Crisis intervention/prevention training with children. Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
