The Ephrata Area School District, 803 Oak Boulevard, Ephrata, PA 17522, is currently recruiting for full-time Behavior Technicians. We are seeking passionate and dedicated para educators to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of students.

Behavior Technician (BT) is assigned to work with the District's Behavior Specialist (BS), within general education classes, special education programs, or within transportation and provides behavioral support to students as assigned The by the Behavior Specialist (BS) or Coordinators of Student Services. The Behavior Technician is under the general supervision of the District Behavior Specialist.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide behavioral assistance to students individually or in small groups at the direction of the BS to reinforce behavior plans, gather data, or enhance skill acquisition.
  • Prompt, guide, support, and implement specially designed instruction in general education or special education classrooms as outlined in student(s) IEPs, or through directives from the BS, supervisor of special education, or District administrators.
  • Assist with classroom management and student(s) behaviors in accordance with school-wide behavior initiatives, class behavior expectations, individual PBAPs, and student(s) IEPs.
  • Collaborate with BS daily to implement behavior plans, crisis plans, collect data, mentor skill development for staff or students, and model techniques.
  • Communicate with IEP team and supervisors regarding behavior needs plans, progress, and skill acquisition.
  • Maintain student confidentiality to ensure all student information is kept private.
  • Work directly with students and staff to deliver behavioral interventions designed to reduce maladaptive behaviors and teach new replacement skills.
  • Reinforce techniques, prompting, and other strategies to help students achieve their goals.
  • Assist with collecting progress monitoring and/or behavior data.
  • Receive additional behavior training (40 hours certification supported by District to be BT certified).
  • Participate in team meetings.Complete specific training required (Verbal Behavior, BCBA tenants, CPI, CPR/First Aid).

Qualifications:
  • RBT certification preferred but will be offered in year one. Maintenance of certification required after first year.High School Diploma (maintained on file) in addition to any pre- requisite requirements as defined by state or national regulations (Chapter 14 requirements).
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a classroom setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (may be required).

Workplace Expectations:
  • Must demonstrate regular and punctual attendance. Must interact positively with administration, students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior & speech and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner.
  • Must follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.
  • Must maintain the integrity of confidential information within the Business Office.
  • Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbook

Other Requirements: Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance.

The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.

Hourly rate based on experience
