About the Employer Located in the greater Redding area, the Mountain Valley Special Education JPA is a consortium of 13 small school districts and one charter school that was created to provide a broader continuum of services for students with disabilities. Job Summary Job Summary Provide assistance to certificated teachers, guidance counselors, crisis teachers, and other certified specialists in the education, care, and development of mentally, physically, socially and emotionally challenged students. Employees in this class perform instruction, clerical, and behavioral management duties and personally assist trainable, educable, profoundly and severely emotionally, socially and physically challenged students. Work is performed under the direction of a certificated teacher, guidance counselor, or administrator. Location: Shasta County 8am-2:30pm, may be slightly adjusted , based off students needs CALPERS retirement participant; Health, Dental and Vision benefits (prorated) View Job Description Requirements / Qualifications Cover Letter Resume Three (3) Signed Letters of Recommendation Required before hire : First aide/CPR certification High School Diploma, GED equivalent or highest college degree completed Proof of one of the following: Passed 48 units of college coursework AA degree Passed CBEST Passed ESSA compliant Paraprofessional test offered at Shasta County Office of Education Comments and Other Information Work days: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 2:30pm with 30 minute lunch (6 hours/day) actual start / end times may be adjusted slightly based on students' needs Start Date: 08/13/2024 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Two years of college education with 48 college credits, or an AA degree, or the passing of a state approved assessment proficiency test (Paraprofessional Certificate), is required. One year of experience, three years preferred, performing duties of a comparable nature is desirable. PRI certified or available to be trained and certified. Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
