Summary: The job of the Behavior Coordinator is to provide services designed to develop additional programming and enhance current programming in the area of behavior support. The Coordinator works in collaboration with school staff, families, and community partners to enable students to better access education opportunities. The Behavior Coordinator will provide both direct and indirect support designed to assess, monitor, serve and adjust support for students with behavior concerns to allow them to fully access their academic content in a safe and productive manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All or some of the following tasks may be required. Other duties may be assigned. Coordinate the behavior program for students in grades K-12. Consult with pre-school staff for transition meetings and on-site support as needed for pre-K students. Attend administrative meetings, relevant professional meetings. Attend meetings concerning student behavior as prioritized by the school principals in coordination with the Special Education Director. Develop familiarity with agencies and services available in the community to provide support to children and families and refer families as needed. Oversee programming of behavior specialists, classroom teachers, and educational assistants and provide ongoing support and training to staff as it relates to the implementation and documentation associated with behavior support plans. Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Provide model teaching and other direct instructional supports including, but not limited to, whole class instruction, small group instruction, individualized programs, community-based programming, and in-service instruction to other support professionals. Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools to conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce target behaviors. Provide ongoing support and training to instructional staff, ABA implementers, and other individuals in support roles for students. Provide ongoing training of paraprofessional staff in implementation of ABA principles and methodology and behavior modification strategies. Create an ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy, and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming. Develop behavior plans with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing challenging, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior(s). Meet as needed with staff to discuss ongoing instructional issues and to provide support when necessary. Provide consultation services and to maintain ongoing communication with all constituents (other supports, parents, community, and community agencies). Keep current with the literature, new research findings and resources. In addition, continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are necessary. Comply with all Board policies, administrative regulations and District procedures, as well as all state, federal and local laws and regulations. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications: Current Oregon Teaching License is required. Teaching experience in public schools is desired. Formal training in the analysis of behavior and instructional strategies training related to working with students who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies is required. Master's degree in Behavior Analysis or related human services field is desired. Board Certified Behavior Analyst License is desired. Must have exceptional personal integrity, maturity, collaborative skills and personal interest in working with students, staff, parents and the community. Work is predominately inside and generally provides protection from the weather but not necessarily from temperature changes. Some outside duties are required. Reports To: The Behavior Coordinator will report to the Special Education Director. Terms of Employment: 195 day contract. Additional days (at pro-rated daily rate) shall be paid as approved by supervisor. Salary and work year as determined by the administration and in accordance with Board policy, individual work agreements and the collective bargaining agreement.
