Job Overview


The Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring the internal and external customer demands are achieved, quality standards are met, and labor efficiencies are maximized within a safe working environment. Also, support all other departments regarding business needs.


As a key member of the Production Team, the Machine Operator will be hands on in their approach to all aspects of production within their area. They will work collaboratively within the team to produce products at a high standard, achieving daily targets of output and efficiency.

Requirements:

Job Duties and Expectations

  • Perform daily minor preventative maintenance duties to ensure the effective performance of our machinery.
  • Ensure Start Up and Shut Down procedures are carried out and documented according to SOP's.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards and report any quality issues or concerns to your Process Improvement Manager.
  • Training new operators on basic machine operations
  • Accessing the machine parameters on the computer and making improvements when needed
  • Operate a variety of bindery machinery as required.
  • Establishes an environment that is conducive to collaboration and teamwork, promotes positive employee relations and takes steps to prevent or diffuse conflicts.
  • Implements and follows policies and procedures consistently and according to company standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Operate within the District Photo framework ensuring the company's Core Values are always maintained.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including time management and workload prioritization.
  • Experience and knowledge of key machinery within the area.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Enthusiasm about learning and training.
  • Ability to encourage and mentor teams of trainees.
  • Flexible, assertive, team player who is willing to help wherever needed to achieve company goals.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must perform other duties assigned by Management Team.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance.
  • Quick learner and self-motivated
  • Ability to work as needed, particularly during high volume periods, to ensure that departmental objectives are accomplished.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of physical activities, including constant and repetitive motions, reaching, bending, picking, walking, standing, gripping, and grabbing.
  • Must be able to stand for entire duration of shift up to and including 12 hours per day.
