SUMMARY:

The Bankruptcy Specialist I is responsible for ensuring all bankrupt accounts are properly coded and processed to ensure the company is in compliance with both federal bankruptcy laws and company policy

MAJOR DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Timely filing of proof of claims, reaffirmations, proper coding of accounts, to include adding flags and removing flags as appropriate
  • Review claims for accuracy
  • Monitoring plan to ensure LFS lost is minimum.
  • Review court docket and case information via electronic case monitoring to promptly determine when attorney action is required and refer to local counsel as necessary
  • Recommendation to manager in regards to lift of stays or other bankrupt functions as needed
  • Work with LFS network bankruptcy attorneys, bankruptcy trustees, debtor's attorneys for any information needed on the case
  • Handle inbound/outbound calls
  • Respond to all email and phone communications
  • Thoroughly review and analyze bankruptcy documents and work with attorneys to meet deadlines
  • Document the system with appropriate action and/or follow up on each file
  • Manages risk relative to position
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution
  • 0 - 2 years consumer finance or collections experience
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Detail oriented and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word applications
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and follow up
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Federal bankruptcy knowledge

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment
  • Overtime and weekend hours may be required due to seasonal or month-end needs, or as requested
