What's the OPPORTUNITY? -Vice President (VP) of Accounting/Controller

The VP of Accounting/Controller is responsible for ensuring that all financial records of the credit union are properly accounted for and follow generally accepted accounting practices and regulatory rules and regulations. Additionally, this position is responsible for conducting various financial analyses for management, the Board of Directors, and external agencies.

The VP of Accounting/Controller will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing timely and accurate internal and external reporting, including financial reports for the Asset Liability Management (ALM) Committee, Board of Directors, subsidiary ledger balancing reports, Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) collateral reports, NCUA 5300 quarterly reports, and other regulatory reports as required.

The VP of Accounting/Controller also leads, coaches, and supervises the Accounting Department staff. They ensure proper training, establish goals and objectives, monitor and evaluate performance, and provide guidance as necessary to achieve objectives.

What Can you Bring?

The minimum qualifications for the VP of Accounting/Controller position are:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, or a related field.
  • CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a high functioning accounting department in a financial institution.
  • Minimum of 3 - 7 years executive/finance experience within the financial institutions industry.
  • Extensive experience with core information systems such as Symitar Episys, preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
