SUMMARY

The AVP of Business Development is a highly collaborative, influential, and experienced leader responsible for developing and meeting objectives, with an emphasis on membership growth and community engagement. This is accomplished through the leadership, coaching, and direction of the Business Development team and establishing relationships with the credit union's SEG partners and the community. They will manage third-party partners and events for County Federal's volunteer and financial educational programs. The AVP of Business Development is responsible for directing and managing all the administrative functions of the Business Development experience, in accordance with best practices, industry standards, legal and regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures to ensure the implementation of the organization's strategic objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, the management and oversight of the following area functions:

1. Member experience

2. Measurement of performance - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

3. Process engineering and improvement

4. Campaign Management

5. Development of team members

6. Promoting a consultative culture

7. Volunteer Hours

Education and/or Experience: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, 6 to 8 years of experience in marketing, business development, and/or equivalent working experience. Comfort with data analysis and interpreting data and agency management experience is required.

Geographical Location: This position may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement. Individuals working in this position must be located within the state of California.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Create, administer, and implement business development strategies and tactics for the Credit Union.

Coach the Business Development team to initiate and develop relationships with key prospects to identify banking needs.

Maintain relationships with SEG partners to ensure engagement success.

Establish and achieve sales goals, metrics, and milestones.

Capture the needs of SEG partners and the community and consult with the VP of Member Experience and internal teams for solution development.

Represent the Credit Union during and outside of normal business hours; conduct outreach with community organizations, employers, formal education programs, sponsors, and other similar organizations that support our local community. Contact, develop, and maintain relationships with community-based organizations. Provide exceptional service to members, community partners, and team members and be aligned with the organizational mission, vision, and core values.

Manage the Credit Union's financial literacy program.

Develop and execute a business plan, and establish performance goals for the business development staff that are strategically aligned with the overall goals of the Credit Union.

Develop employees to their fullest potential by providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth. Build bench strength encompassing succession planning, recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

Provide timely and accurate analyses of budgets, project proposals, and business trends in the immediate market area.

Actively manage and direct all daily operations of Business Development to ensure efficiency and optimal member service levels. The activities include scheduling, hiring, training, coaching, and managing staff, setting up and breaking down business development events, process improvement, workflow management, budgeting, expense control, and administrative and sales activities.

Open new memberships with control and security of member information, complying with all applicable policies and procedures.

Create and promote opportunities for volunteerism at County Federal. Execute and participate in/drive charitable events and/or large organizational initiatives. Explore the creation of a volunteer committee and chairs.

Coordinate community and special events.

Maintain working knowledge of regulatory compliance related to member services and financial services areas.

Assist with special projects as needed and perform other related duties as requested or assigned.

Compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and USA PATRIOT Act including but not limited to reporting suspicious activities to your supervisor and BSA Officer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Previous success in a leadership position in business development.

6+ years in progressive business development roles, including experience leading and mentoring high-performing teams.

Experience scaling programs and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach.

Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Strong experience with Microsoft Office Tools - PowerPoint, Excel, Word. Experience using Canva / Creative Cloud / creative development tools is a plus.

Exceptional attention to detail.

Superior communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to learn and adapt quickly.

Ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization and with people from all walks of life.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages all staff and vendor relationships related to Business Development. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these positions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, coaching, and correcting the performance of employees when necessary, according to established standards.
