Job Summary: Reporting to the Mechanical Services Manager or designated manager, the Mechanical Technician I will perform light mechanical services to vehicles as assigned. Maintain consistently high standards for technical efficiency. Make quality repairs and diagnostics while observing all safety requirements. Perform all duties assigned. Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and state or federal laws are followed always.

Function (Department Roles)

The Mechanical Technician I will perform light mechanical services to vehicles as assigned.

Purpose (End Results)

This position performs identified light mechanical services on different types of vehicles. Task assignments are directed by shop management to encourage development in a productive manner.

Responsibilities and Duties (Key Roles) technician tasks including, but not limited to the following:

Provide prompt and courteous service:
    • Demonstrate friendliness and greet every person with whom they come in contact.
    • Maintain a professional appearance and a neat work environment consistent with the Company's Policies and Procedures.
    • Return customer's vehicles in clean condition with radios, seats, mirrors and other convenience items in the same position as when the customer brought the vehicle in. No smoking in customer vehicles.
Make sure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention from all employees. Notify Mechanical Services of any delays or discrepancies in repair estimates.

Resolve any customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner and advise Management of all serious complaints or incidences.

Perform light mechanical, tire and inspection services to the standards of the Mechanic Shop.

Inform the Mechanical Services Manager or designee when a job is started, finished, interrupted or delayed. Keep the Manager informed as to the progress and/or problems with work load. Request assistance with repairs or inspections as needed.

Look up parts to perform the service; use parts in stock when possible and communicate with admins of items needed.

Properly complete all work orders. Check off each job and return the work order to the Manager if all work has been completed.

Recommend additional repairs needed or maintenance to the Manager (verbal or written recommendations are required).

Practice and promote teamwork always. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.

Advise the Mechanical Services Manager of all equipment breakdowns and maintenance immediately.

Make sure work area conditions do not threaten employee or customer safety. Keep work area clean and free of clutter. Sweep and pick up work area daily and dispose of junk parts and their containers appropriately. Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee and customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to the Manager.

Qualifications (Education and Experience):
  • Previous Lube and Tire Tech experience required.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Must be able to drive vehicles with either standard or automatic transmissions.
  • Must be tire and wheel qualified within six months of getting this position
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Company policies in all areas
  • Effective interpersonal communications skills
  • Must have the ability to interact positively with others
  • Computer skills preferred
  • Customer interaction is required
Major Activities:
  • Will perform tire service, including proper entry on repair orders, parts stocking, mounting and dismounting of assembled wheels on vehicles.
  • Will be responsible for the Company's Tire program at the employee's assigned locations.
  • Will assist with tire inventory, stocking levels, ordering inventory and maintaining customer specific tire matrix.
  • Oil changes, brakes, hoses, belts,
  • Light bulb change and Misc.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Company policies in all areas
  • Effective interpersonal communications skills
  • Must have the ability to interact positively with others
Qualifications
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must have the ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
