JOB TITLE: Autism Supports Activity Specialist DEPARTMENT: Family and Community Supports DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Program Manager FLSA STATUS: Salaried Non-Exempt DATE: November 2023 Hours: 30 Hours per Week Inclusive. Summary Responsible for the planning and development of family and community program activities with a focus on autism supports and recreation. Cultivate community connections and implement community-based skills training activities for program participants. Essential Job Functions Develop, plan, facilitate and schedule community support program activities . Develop and adapt activities with input from program participants, to meet the various needs of the program participants. Maintain and manage inventory of activity materials and gain knowledge of activities that program participants would like to be involved in. Research and establish ongoing monthly themes and develop activities and supporting materials to support themes. Assist Program Manager in establishing and maintaining annual supply budget. Coordinates special events, annual events, and special activities for the programs. Coordinates and implements community activities for individuals in small groups. Monitor and track the effectiveness of activity implementation and satisfaction of program participants. Identify potential community partners and facilitate relationships with programs to provide participants with community-based learning experiences and/or to cultivate reverse community relationships and activities. Present program model to interested parties, potential funders, and others as appropriate Coordinate, monitor, and/or implement special activities with community members, volunteers, and contractors. Makes recommendations for programming ideas and works in conjunction with the program manager to develop and improve ongoing activities. Participate and assist in the intake process for new referrals. Participate in staff meetings, quarterly review meetings, and other relevant meetings as assigned. Monitor and safeguard the health, well-being, and safety of individuals in the program on-site and in the community. Reports issues to the appropriate persons and handles emergencies according to agency policies and procedures. Attend meetings and/or case conference meetings regarding individuals as requested. Serves as an active, contributing, and problem-solving member of the agency team. Act in manner consistent with organizational values, mission, and service delivery goals. Serve as a mandated reporter, following all DPPC requirements. Ensure knowledge of and implementation of all agency policies and procedures. Ensure completion of all incident and accident documentation within required timelines. Perform direct support-related tasks in emergencies or as requested by supervisor. Background in recreational or occupational therapy highly desirable Minimum of 2 years' experience in activities coordination desired Valid driver's license and successful driving record required. Computer Skills Demonstrated proficiency in the use of e-mail, the Internet, and have basic Word and Excel skills. Analytical Skills Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, handle emergencies, and successfully manage several projects simultaneously. Language Skills Mastery of the English language required as demonstrated by the ability to read and write instructions, ability to read, analyze, and interpret field and/or professional journals, technical procedures, policy and procedure manuals and governmental regulations. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from Individuals, families, staff or the general public. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow verbal/written instructions. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Ability to effectively facilitate meetings. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situations where standardization exists. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Driver's License Current First Aid and adult CPR certification required within the first 6 months on the job; thereafter employee is expected to remain current with First Aid and adult CPR certification.
