Audit Partner, Director

Previous non-for-profit OR not-for-profit experience required.

SUMMARY:

This person will be responsible for supervising, directing, and reviewing the results through the delegation of tasks throughout the planning, field work and completion stages of an audit engagement.

In this role, they will be responsible for multiple engagements including audits, reviews, and compilations often concurrently with the effective use of project management techniques and organization of resources to ensure achievement of assignment objective while reporting to several partners. They are responsible for serving as client's trusted advisor and demonstrating knowledge of industry trends, identify client issues and conflicts while proactively communicating solution options to client and team. They are responsible for performing a detailed review of the engagement team's work to ensure quality, thoroughness, and completion of assigned tasks within agreed timeframes and are expected to deliver quality client service, insightful solutions and balance multiple priorities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage staff on engagement deliverables (such as financial statements, tax returns, work papers, etc.); complete technical reviews as the lead member of the engagement team to ensure quality control standards are met; ensure timely delivery of deliverables and keep engagement team on budget.

Have a solid understanding of the client's organization, procedures, and internal policies.

Regarding financial statement engagements they are expected to:

Be proficient with pronouncements of the FASB, AICPA, and when assigned to governmental engagements, the GAO and GASB.

Lead, prepare and manage financial statement audits.

Responsible for review of Form 990 and other related tax filings.

SKILLS:

Sound GAAP and GAAS knowledge.

Solids understanding of Form 990 and all applicable schedules.

Possess solid verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to coach, motivate and direct a team of staff accountants.

Possess excellent people development and delegation skills.

Possess executive presence - need to be able to be primary contact for the client, prepare and deliver presentations to the client and potential clients.

Work well under pressure and within a team environment while being able to meet deadlines with accuracy.

Demonstrate proficient technical skills for handling all responsibilities, including knowledge of accounting standards and related industry pronouncements.

Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Communicate engagement progress and/or delays to Partner in charge.

Foster a team environment; demonstrate support of management and decisions to build and maintain a positive culture.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

BA/BS degree or master's degree in accounting and/or MS degree from an accredited college/university.

Minimum of 10 plus years of related audit experience in a small to medium public accounting firm.

CPA.

Prior supervisory responsibilities and experience leading teams.

Strong analytical, project management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
