Audit Associate

Responsibilities:

  • Audit Associate will be responsible for audit support - will pull physical and electronic files, creating the work papers
  • Audit Associate will work closely with CFO and Grants Manager to complete the work papers - understand what auditors are looking for and get that information from the finance team
  • Audit Associate will help grants manager to close out grants - will follow a script of tasks that can be used to close out the grants
  • First few weeks, Audit Associate will receive an understanding of how the financial system works.
  • Audit Associate will complete ad hoc tasks and projects, as requested

Requirements:

  • 3-4+ years of accounting experience required for Audit Associate. Should understand debits and credits and audit. Able to figure out what auditors are asking for and what team needs to provide for the audit.
  • Any previous audit experience is a plus (the audits are European audits, will interact with auditors over email - European audits are more rigid than US standards)
  • Nonprofit accounting experience a plus but NOT required
  • Previous NetSuite experience is a plus, will be trained on the system but should be comfortable with technology and have an understanding of some ERP system
  • Accounting Degree is a plus but NOT required. Previous college level accounting coursework is preferred.
  • Intermediate Excel skills - Running simple formulas, filters, sums, etc.

Personality Fit:

  • Able to work independently.
  • Self-motivated, not needing to be micromanaged. If encounter a problem, proactively try to figure it out.
  • Self-directed, willing to take a task and see it through. Asks for additional work after completing a task.
  • There are several audits going on, so someone who doesn't need a lot of direction. Should understand what is being asked and be able to complete tasks on their own.
  • Comfortable using technology.
  • Takes initiative
  • Not afraid to ask questions
  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic.
  • Understands the importance of making sure everything ties out.
