Job Purpose

As a key member of the UX department, you will create and guide the content strategy for useful, useable, and accessible user experiences. You will balance business goals and a strong understanding of the customer to determine what information users need, where and when in their journey to deliver it to them, and in what format and style. You will also plan for how the content is managed, maintained, and updated over time.



Key Accountabilities

Lead the content strategy for Honda and Acura digital and driving experiences, including: apps, websites, in-vehicle interfaces, and related communications.

• Lead the discipline of content creation and push the bar on quality.

• Define the key messages of user experiences, along with how and when to use them within the customer journey.

• Align with, evolve, and evangelize editorial standards.

• Create and communicate content value propositions.

• Define and prioritize content goals and KPIs.

• Align project teams around the content direction, including conducting stakeholder interviews.

• Determine the content roadmap to plan incremental improvements over time.

• Conduct research to uncover customer content needs and ensure usability.

• Conduct competitive research on content.

• Ensure consistent messaging across experiences.

• Evangelize content best practices and guide discipline specific processes.

• Lead discipline specific meetings and collaborations.
Write and edit content to be in human speak, compelling, and on brand.

• Ensure content is useful, usable and accessible.

• Partner with various stakeholders including product owners, marketing, customer experience, UX design, legal, vehicle design, and technology teams.

• Optimize content for SEO.

• Manage the content revision process.

• Oversee content created internally or by vendors.

• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices.
Create and manage a content inventory.

• Establish content workflow.

• Conduct an audit and analysis of current content to identify gaps and opportunities.

• Guide the content governance process.



Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • MBA or graduate degree in communications, writing, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years experience in content writing and editing.
  • 7+ years experience in content strategy.
  • Proven track record in creating content that improves customer and business outcomes.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse teams across the organization.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to zoom in and out from the big picture to details.
  • Experience with design thinking methodologies and tools, such as workshop facilitation, problem definition, design principles, customer journey maps, customer personas, opportunity framing, and competitive and current state analysis.
  • Navigate complex, multinational senior and executive level relationships and influence stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Exemplify customer empathy and advocate for the customer perspective.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and determine a clear direction.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies.
  • Experience with design sprints.
  • Experience in information architecture.
  • Experience in taxonomy and metadata.
  • Strong business acumen.
