The Opportunity

Avidity Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our Biology team and contribute to the development of our platform. This is a hands-on position to generate high-quality data for pre-clinical stage drug development programs. The ideal candidate will be proficient in a wide range of cellular and molecular biology techniques and is expected to be a strong team player and demonstrate scientific rigor.

What You Will Contribute/Responsibilities
  • Design and perform experiments, analyze data, interpret and report results
  • Develop and optimize biochemical, molecular, and cellular biology methods and assays as needed
  • Collaborate and communicate with other team members and across departments, with the flexibility to participate in several drug development projects if needed
  • Keep detailed and accurate records
  • Present data effectively in verbal as well as written form
  • Work with supervisor to prioritize work
  • Provide training to new laboratory staff
What We Seek/Qualifications
  • B.S./M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering or related disciplines
  • Prior relevant laboratory experience is required (5+ years). Previous experience in biotech/pharma is required
  • Prior experience and a high degree of proficiency with the following techniques are required: cell culture, transfection, RNA isolation, quantitative RT-qPCR analysis, Western Blot, processing of animal tissues
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with little to no supervision and in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a diverse team of co-workers
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills, specifically with Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism
  • Integrity, enthusiasm, willingness to learn, strong interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are expected
  • ddPCR, immunofluorescence, and RNAscope skills are a plus

What We Will Provide to You:
  • The base salary range for this role is $93,000 - $103,000. The final compensation will be commensurate with factors such as relevant experience, skill set, internal equity, and market factors.
