Codexis, a biotechnology company based in Redwood City, CA, is looking to hire an Associate Director of Accounting.
Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. The Company is currently developing its proprietary ECO Synthesis platform to enable the scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through an enzymatic route. Codexis enzymes can drive improvements, such as higher yields, reduced energy usage and waste generation, improve efficiency in manufacturing and greater sensitivity in genomic and diagnostic applications.

About the Opportunity: The Associate Director of Accounting will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills and technical accounting skills. The individual will help manage AP, inventory, and payroll. This position reports to the Director of Accounting. The position will be based in Redwood City, CA. If any of the below describes you, we would love to meet you.

In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Review inventory and COGS transactions and journal entries, manage quarterly physical count and manage Financial Analyst.
  • Review all transactions and reconciliations processed by two AP Accountants & manage AP accountants.
  • Review payroll processed by Payroll accountant (including international payroll), payroll journal entries, reconciliations, interfaces with Navia & Fidelity, and manage payroll accountant. Oversee payroll tax issues.
  • Review completeness and reconciliation of contracts in our contract management system. Assist the rest of the team with reviewing transactions and reconciliations whenever needed.
  • Prepare sales and property tax reports. Prepare and review journal entries & account reconciliations
  • Review certain Prepaid and Fixed Asset requisitions in procurement system (Coupa).
  • Review reconciliations & analysis of accounts & prepare audit schedules. Review search for unrecorded liabilities.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • CPA
  • Accounting Degree
  • 5+ years experience in managing AP, Payroll & inventory
  • Excellent technical accounting expertise
  • Expert Excel skills, aptitude for systems and analytics
  • Experience working in a SOX environment
Additional experience that would be valuable for this role includes:
  • Experience with NetSuite & Paylocity
  • Experience with MRP


CODEXIS PAY TRANSPARENCY: The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City is $175,000 to $220,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Codexis is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states .
