This role has line manager accountability over a therapeutically aligned Patient Engagement and Recruitment team responsible to develop, drive and implement disease-specific engagement and recruitment strategies that focus on creating a positive site and patient experience in BMS clinical trials. Will raise awareness of and promote access to clinical trials in a variety of indications while ensuring a focus on diversity and inclusion and driving and accelerating clinical trial recruitment for BMS.

Position Summary

This role has line manager accountability over a therapeutically aligned Patient Engagement and Recruitment team responsible to develop, drive and implement disease-specific engagement and recruitment strategies that focus on creating a positive site and patient experience in BMS clinical trials. Will raise awareness of and promote access to clinical trials in a variety of indications while ensuring a focus on diversity and inclusion and driving and accelerating clinical trial recruitment for BMS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leads a team of individuals responsible for the development and execution of indication/protocol-specific Patient Engagement and Recruitment strategic plans; serves as main point of escalation for study level recruitment tactical concerns
  • Ensures timely and high-quality tactical delivery against an indication/protocol-specific engagement and recruitment strategy to all BMS clinical trials
  • Oversees a team and process to ensure ongoing commitments are met across all BMS clinical trials; engages in continuous process improvement to accelerate trial launch and delivery.
  • Leads BMS's Patient Engagement and Recruitment function to embed industry-leading processes and principles that define how BMS interacts with and manages its Patient Engagement and Recruitment strategies across all BMS Clinical Trials
  • Leads BMS's Patient Engagement and Recruitment function to ensure that all trial and regulatory obligations, SOP's, business practices and guidelines are adhered to in the execution of this function
  • Collaborates within BMS's matrix structure to establish efficient and effective patient engagement and enrollment to ensure all critical clinical trial recruitment milestones are met
  • Responsible for resource planning and management to ensure adequate resources are available to manage the book of work and proactive resource planning to ensure future resourcing is in line with forecasted business needs
  • Serves as an advocate for inclusion of a focus on diverse recruitment as part of strategy development. Partners with development and operations study leaders on the diversity strategy and actively contributes to the indication/protocol-specific diversity plan
  • Setting goals and objectives for the Patient Engagement and Recruitment function that are aligned with the business objectives of the organization and establishing appropriate metrics, KPIs and scorecards to measure achievement of those goals and objectives
  • Researches & brings forward industry trends and innovation in the field and where beneficial to the BMS organization, introducing these innovations within the group
  • Partners with Legal, GRS, GTM, RCO, and other BMS functions to select ensure engagement and recruitment materials package aligns with all local requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of a BA or BS Degree in a clinical or scientific discipline (advanced degree a plus).
  • Clinical development experience of 5-7 years (AD) of relevant industry experience (pharma, biotech, CRO) required
  • Clinical development experience of 8-10 years (Dir) of relevant industry experience (pharma, biotech, CRO) required
  • Significant expertise with patient engagement and recruitment strategies and approach, knowledge of ICH / GCP and regulatory guidelines/directives, understanding of drug development process and Pharma, Strong organizational, time-management, analytical and decision-making skills in order to efficiently evaluate, plan and accomplish work goals
  • Scientific, Financial, and business problem-solving experience desired
  • Proven experience in managing key internal and external stakeholders (including senior leaders) effectively by frequently soliciting input and gathering and incorporating feedback into processes and driving change as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of stakeholders with ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Effective management of cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and demonstrated ability to work and influence within a matrix structure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and diplomacy to convey information and influence others with a strong customer focus.
  • Demonstrates a high level of adaptability in dealing with ambiguous and complex work environment and balances multiple demands on role in a responsive and professional manner.
