The Position

The Forecasting Capabilities & Patient Analytics team is responsible for supporting next-generation initiatives and introducing best practices for Forecasting (Short-Term and Long-Term) including investigation of AI/ML techniques. In addition, the team provides patient analytics support through LAAD analysis and management of Patient epidemiology models to tie short-term forecast volumes with patient dynamics. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional subject matter experts, high level of market understanding and excellent analytical capabilities to develop and maintain complex forecasting models and supporting analytics. This position will also engage with external vendors and may serve as project manager for any new Forecasting capabilities initiatives that require additional support.


Relationships

Reports to the Director of Forecasting Capabilities & Patient Analytics. Internal interactions include stakeholders across the NNI organization to ensure Forecast capabilities coordination across Novo Nordisk and Patient Analytics support to Long-Term and Short-Term Forecasting. External relationships may include interactions with various subject matter experts and vendors based on the needs of special projects or implementation of new programs.


Essential Functions

  • Expert knowledge of longitudinal patient-level data such as IQVIA LAAD and Komodo Sentinel. Works effortless with large and complex datasets to derive patient and business insights in support of Short-Term and Long-Term Forecasting

  • Helps champion AI/ML and other next generation Forecasting techniques within NNI Forecasting, as well as collaboration with local and HQ Advanced Analytics

  • Creates, challenges, and modifies business rules for setting up analysis based on patient level data. Understands and communicates why certain business rules are relevant for one type of analysis vs others

  • Independently drives cross-functional ad-hoc projects from idea to recommendation

  • Works across multiple Therapeutic Areas including Diabetes, Obesity, NASH, Hemophilia, GHT

  • Update and review patient model outputs with internal Forecasting stakeholders and Commercial Analytics, as necessary

  • Derives recommendations independently based on internal and external analyses

  • Will be part of the Forecasting Capabilities & Patient Analytics team that has the mandate to actively manage patient forecast models, supporting LAAD analytics and investigation into new Forecast capabilities that support the short-term and long-term Forecasting teams at Novo Nordisk Inc.

  • Partners with internal Advanced Analytics and externally with vendors to facilitate development of relevant analysis and investigation for Forecasting capabilities development

  • Develops recommendations to Forecasting unit heads as well as senior leadership based on outcomes of patient models / analytics

  • Partners with multiple functions within Commercial Insights and Analytics, PCOR as well as HQ Advanced Analytics

  • Seen as subject matter expert within field and provides sparring and input to colleagues and key stakeholders


Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance/Economics, Operations Research, Engineering or similar field of study is required, advanced degree is preferred

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively relevant financial planning, forecasting, commercial analytics and/or relevant consultancy experience required. An advanced degree may be substituted for two years of experience.

  • Functional expert using at least one of the following longitudinal patient-level data sources: IQVIA LAAD or Komodo Sentinel

  • Recognized as a functional expert in Excel and PowerPoint. Extensive experience with complex financial modelling and sales forecasting required

  • Hands-on AI/ML experience in python, R, SAS or similar preferred

  • Understanding of the external marketplace and familiarity in metabolic disease areas preferred

  • Ability to work with large and complex datasets and derive clear and simple business insights

  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and financial forecasting ability. Ability to collaborate across all functions and levels

  • Strong decision-making skills through demonstrated ability to leverage evidenced-based insights and sound judgement into strategy development, deployment and optimization

  • Must possess the ability to develop simple and clear communications and to present same to all levels of stakeholders

  • Project management, process development and change management experience a plus

  • Ability to manage competing priorities; strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to streamline and simplify complex concepts for broader audience
