The Position

It is a strategic priority for Data Science to foster and develop partnerships with CROs in alignment with our organizational needs and aspirations. The Associate Director, Outsourcing Operations will serve as the key interface with our CRO partners to ensure success of the outsourced data science portfolio through implementation of governance, oversight, and operational principals.
Relationships
The Associate Director, Outsourcing Operations reports to Director, Data Science outsourcing. They are expected to develop and maintain close communication with: All areas, primarily in Clinical Drug Development, DRD, CMO, Regulatory and Safety, Research and Early Development, Legal, Corporate Communication, Novo Nordisk Management teams.
The position does not have direct reports.
Essential Functions
As an Associate Director, Data Science Outsourcing Operations, you will have the opportunity to:
Develop a robust operational model for outsourcing that includes partnership frameworks, governance, oversight, and risk mitigation/issue escalation strategiesEstablish strong working relationships between internal function teams and CRO partners, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and project coordinationImplement robust performance metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of outsourcing initiatives and drive continuous improvementIdentify and mitigate potential risks associated with outsourcing activities, proactively addressing challenges to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met. Co-author risk assessment plans with CRO partnersManage budgets and financial aspects related to outsourcing operations, optimizing resource allocation for maximum efficiencyEnsure that all outsourced activities adhere to regulatory and compliance requirements as well as internal SOPs. Maintain a high standard for data integrity and study qualityLead the and implementation of an innovative outsourcing model for data science studies and activitiesServe as committee manager within vendor governance framework, interfacing with functional, operational, and data science executive leadersCreate and manage internal steering committee, governance bodies, and cross-function teams to ensure successful implementation of outsourcing initiativesTrack metrics to monitor performance of CRO partners and identify areas for improvementPhysical Requirements
Approximately 15% overnight international travel.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as data science, life sciences, business administration, or a related discipline. Master's degree is preferred, but not required10+ years of relevant work experience in pharmaceutical operations, project management, managing complex stakeholder groups/collaborations, and other related roles. Previous outsourcing implementation and operations experience preferred, but not requiredStrong knowledge and understanding of strategic, organisational, and scientific issues related to drug development in the pharmaceutical industryStrong project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully implementing outsourcing modelsProven ability to drive operational excellence, implement new governance models and SOPs. The ability to think outside of the box and challenge existing norms, bringing fresh perspectives to optimize data science outsourcing practices is preferredExcellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with CRO partners and internal stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team and to work collaboratively across departments and functions to achieve common goalsAbility to navigate ambiguity and lead through change in a large, complex organizationStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a teamStructured and systematic mindset with ability to follow-up on a variation of tasks and engagementsThe base compensation range for this position is $180,000 to $210,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
