Job Description

This role will work with domestic and international stakeholders throughout the business and finance to identify and implement best practices, process improvements, and accounting controls while being responsible for coordinating, administering, and controlling the general ledger accounting of various Santen entities. Additional responsibilities include financial reporting, tax, and audit as well as leading a team responsible for payroll, equity, procurement, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES:

  • Direct the activities of general accounting functions including the general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll systems
  • Direct the corporate governance activities of Santen Inc. and other entities in the US as needed
  • Ensure the accurate compilation, consolidation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data of SHUSI consolidated legal entity in accordance with US GAAP/IFRS
  • Publish financial statements monthly in accordance with US GAAP/IFRS and Corporate guidelines
  • Supervise full cycle accounts payable process including vendor set-up, collaborating with operations, manage purchase order workflow process including payment approval, vendor management
  • Interact cross-functionally to ensure that key people in other departments manage projects with the proper Finance inputs, and provide guidance across the company on accounting policy and procedure
  • Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate financial systems, strong internal controls, and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Key member of Global ERP projects, lead US financial requirements and liaise with various groups and functions
  • Responsible for tracking and controlling fixed assets, as well as leased equipment and other assets
  • Act as liaison between the Company, government, auditors and tax accountants to facilitate audits and tax preparation, and ensure that proper information is maintained for historical purposes
  • Lead tax-related funds-flow discussions together with other functions as needed impacting Santen Inc., SHUSI, SVI, InnFocus, and AVS legal entities
  • Responsible for cash flow forecasting and the treasury function
  • Provide leadership and development skills for Accounting staff (including training and appraisal of staff) to support both R&D and Non-R&D and ensure correct accounting processes maintained and followed
  • Perform special projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as necessary as assigned by management

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of financial management experience is required with eight or more (8+) years in leadership positions in global pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies
  • Experience with global team management and frequent interactions with Global Headquarter a strong plus
  • CPA required
  • Corporate tax experience required
  • Skilled in use of financial software packages, preferably SAP and Coupa
  • Must have excellent computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills to lead a team and interact with all levels of employees including senior management, non-financial staff and Japanese parent company
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relations skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment leveraging internal and external resources to meet simultaneous deadlines/demands.

Additional Information

Compensation range for this position is: $134,000 - $250,000
