Obsidian Therapeutics is expanding the reach of TIL therapy. We are pioneering engineered tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapies to deliver transformative outcomes for patients suffering from solid tumor malignancies. Obsidian's programs apply our cytoDRiVE platform technology to express regulated therapeutic proteins to enhance anti-tumor activity. On April 3, 2024, we announced closure of a significantly oversubscribed $160.5 million Series C financing with a top-tier syndicate of life science investors led by new investor, Wellington Management. Proceeds from the financing will advance Obsidian's lead program in its ongoing trials. We're focused on enrolling patients and reaching key clinical and regulatory milestones, as well as manufacturing scale-up ahead of pivotal trial readiness.

Additional Series C Financing Details

Our Series C financing was led by new investor, Wellington Management. Additional new investors participating in the financing include Foresite Capital, Janus Henderson Investors, Novo Holdings A/S, Paradigm BioCapital, RTW Investments, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and Woodline Partners LP. Existing investors Atlas Venture, Blue Owl Healthcare Opportunities, Bristol Myers Squibb, Deep Track Capital, Logos Capital, RA Capital Management, TCGX, Samsara BioCapital and Surveyor Capital (a Citadel company) also participated in the financing.

Our Opportunity

Obsidian Therapeutics is seeking a finance professional with strong business partnering, financial, analytical, and communication skills. In this role, you will be responsible for key Accounting and SEC Reporting activity that will support the company's transition from a private, early-stage company through a potential Initial Public Offering and into a publicly traded, multi-product, late-stage company. You will be responsible for the consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results as well as the preparation/review of our 10Q's, 10K's, and other SEC filings as a public company. You will oversee our R&D accruals process and work with the VP of Finance to manage our accounting policies and procedures, including the implementation of new accounting standards. You will also partner with the VP Finance to assess internal controls and help the Company maintain its compliance with SOX 404B.

You will

  • Implement and maintain an R&D accrual program with FP&A and through partnerships with the R&D organization, including clinical operations.
  • Review agreements with external service providers for finance and accounting considerations; provide guidance on likely accounting treatment during negotiations.
  • Execute monthly and quarterly closes, including journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Working closely with the VP of Finance, oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external financial reporting.
  • Prepare work papers and reconciliations for audits and quarterly reviews, including support for footnote disclosures and MD&A.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls in compliance with SOX 404B.
  • Manage accounting for stock based compensation arrangements and reconciling stock based compensation accounting data with equity system (i.e. Equity Edge/Etrade or Carta).
  • Support finance team with work related to audit, process improvements, and other ad hoc projects as needed.

You bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA with 8+ years of financial accounting experience with Big 4 or national public accounting firm and industry experience
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
  • Experience working effectively with teams and external consultants, accountants, auditors
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment and across multiple senior levels of management
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Highly advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience in publicly listed life sciences company, clinical stage experience a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite

Job level will be based on overall experience and capabilities.
