Job Description: Reporting to the School of Nursing (SON) Dean, the Associate Dean works collaboratively with the Chair, Program Coordinators, the MSN Director and Clinical Coordinators to provide excellent didactic and clinical experiences and student outcomes. In addition, the Associate Dean will have primary responsibility for leading the SON's pre-licensure programs inclusive of Traditional, Accelerated BS and the AE-MSN programs and the post-licensure RN to BS program. The Associate Dean will perform the functions of the Dean in the Dean's absence. Essential Functions: Communicate and collaborate with both Chair and the Program Coordinators/Director to plan the course calendar and ensure that faculty assignments are in place to achieve high quality outcomes for students and faculty; Work with other CCSON leaders to provide strategic direction, vision and leadership for developing and maintaining exceptional and innovative undergraduate programs that support the CCSON's educational mission; Acts as the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (MA BORN) Program Administrator for the pre-licensure programs (Traditional/ACCEL and AE-MSN); Collaborate with the Dean, Chair Coordinators and Director to hire, orient, and evaluate part time faculty in all programs; Establish course schedules for the Traditional, Accelerated and the RN to BS programs in collaboration with Chair and Program Coordinators. Review and edit course offerings for these programs as needed to achieve high quality accurate communication and outcomes; Serve as a leader in decision- making, communication and implementation of program policies and procedures; Collaborate with faculty and students to address complex student issues and concerns following School of Nursing policies. Coach faculty regarding effective conflict resolution skills; As needed, represents the Dean to the College, CCSON, the local community, and the professional community in establishing collaborative working relationships with external and internal constituents to support the well-being of the undergraduate programs within the School of Nursing; In collaboration with the Dean and the Chair, serves as a leader in continuous quality improvement activities in the pre-licensure program including leadership of all assessment activity; Serve as the primary point of contact for resolution of student concern and issues that need to be escalated beyond the Chairperson; Participate in student recruitment and progression activities. Additional Functions: Participating in School of Nursing Committees; Mentoring new faculty; Providing assistance to the Chair; Serve as a back up for the Dean, School of Nursing; Engaging in scholarship; Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy; Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor of their designee. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Five years teaching experience. Earned doctorate required, nursing major preferred; master's in nursing required if doctorate is not in nursing. Licensed as an RN in Massachusetts. Record of scholarly achievement relevant to role and demonstrated expertise in leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications: The desired qualifications for this job include previous administrative experience in a nursing program, proven record of scholarship, and certification as a nurse educator or nurse administrator.
