GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The School of Science, Technology, and Health at Tiffin University is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Biochemistry. This renewable contract role, commencing on August 15th, 2024, offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated educator passionate about teaching and mentoring students across our diverse Science, Technology, and Health programs. Candidates with a minimum of a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a related field are invited to apply. The successful candidate will teach 12 semester hours of Chemistry and Biology courses and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level, the ability to establish and maintain an undergraduate scholarly research agenda, and mentor student scholarly research. Evidence of effective teaching to diverse learners and experience in promoting and fostering a supportive learning environment using a variety of methodologies is a plus. The successful candidate will be tasked with the critical and exciting responsibility of developing and designing a distinctive Biochemistry degree program for Tiffin University with a clear vision of the needs of the 21st-century scientific community. The candidate will also contribute to curriculum design and evaluation, serve on department, division, and school committees to maintain and enhance the educational program, and participate in relevant professional development activities. Moreover, the faculty may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. The School of Science, Technology, and Health offers Bachelor of Science degrees and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art instruments within our Center for Science and Technology. Requirements MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following are the responsibilities of the job: Teaching biology, chemistry, physics, and biochemistry courses for a total of 12 semester hours. Developing courses and curriculum for a biochemistry program. Delivering courses online. Engaging in activities that promote student success. Establishing a research program in chemistry and biochemistry that involves undergraduate students. Assessing the program as assigned. Mentoring program students and student organizations. Participating in university, college, and departmental open houses, recruitment, and outreach activities. Encouraging students to engage in undergraduate research. Performing any other job-related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB Required Qualifications ABD candidates in Chemistry or Biochemistry with related expertise.
