General Summary: The Department of Health Informatics and Information Management is currently seeking applications for an assistant professor. This is a full-time, on campus, nine-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated hire date of September 1, 2024. Louisiana Tech University is a four-year selective admissions research university awarding bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Louisiana Tech has an average enrollment of approximately 12,000 students and is in Ruston, Louisiana. The department has five full-time and two adjunct faculty positions. Degrees offered include a Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management. Both programs are accredited by CAHIIM. The responsibilities of the position include course development and instruction in a traditional on campus and online format in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The faculty member will also be responsible for engaging in scholarly activity; performing service activities for the profession, university, department, and community; contributing to recruitment and marketing of both programs; advising undergraduate students; participating in accreditation review; and contributing to all departmental initiatives and goals. Position Qualifications The requirements for this position include a minimum of a master's degree, in a field related to Health Informatics and Information Management. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years recent experience in the Health Information Management/Health Informatics field, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding as well revenue cycle management. RHIA credential is required. CCS, CCS-P, or similar credential preferred. Applications will close on May 31, 2024.
