Description The Director of Research for the Kirkhof College of Nursing provides leadership to the college in the area of scholarly endeavors and strategic planning of related goals and directions. Will facilitate teaching effectiveness and faculty scholarly projects that support the research, scholarship, academic and practice missions of the school. This is 12 month FTE appointment, and includes administration (50%), scholarship and teaching (50%). Qualifications Earned doctorate in nursing or related discipline; if doctorate not in nursing must have earned master's degree in nursing. Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Record of professional, community, and university service; record of scholarly productivity; strong leadership and organizational abilities, and effective interpersonal skills. Previous academic administrative experience desirable; eligible for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Michigan. Formal Accountability Reports to the Dean and is a member of the Dean's Leadership Team. Responsibilities Administers the Center for Nursing Research and Scholarship Develops/maintains the infrastructure needed to fulfill the scholarship mission of the College of Nursing, to include acquisition of resources, support for grant submission, and mentoring activities. Provides faculty support with grant proposal development (pre-award) and grant implementation and evaluation (post-award) processes Mentors and supports faculty in the development of research/scholarly programs appropriate to rank and interest Participates in development and administration of the Center for Nursing Research budget Facilitates the growth and productivity of the Center for Nursing Research and Scholarship, ensuring the integration of scholarship for teaching, research, service, and practice. Promotes internal and external interdisciplinary research initiatives. Acts as advocate for Kirkhof College of Nursing faculty and liaison with University resources for faculty research and publication. Communicates and promotes opportunities for professional development, funding opportunities, and dissemination of scholarship products. Ensures ongoing data tracking efforts related to faculty and student research, scholarship, and grant effort is maintained and evaluated Manage continuing education (CE) provider requirements Serves on appropriate University and community committees and task forces; and KCON committees as assigned. Collaborates with members of the Dean's Administrative Team to support the academic and practice/service missions. Participates as a member in meetings of the Dean's Administrative Team. Maintains a program of scholarship (6.0 credit hours/calendar year) Teaches in area of specialty (9.0 credit hours/calendar year). Other duties as assigned.
