Description: Assistant Principal/Dean of Students Location: Platte Canyon High School Schedule: School Year. Starts August 1, 2024. Board approved Academic Calendar 176 days per academic year. SALARY: Initial placement on the Administrative Salary Schedule, including up to ten (10) years credit for previous experience in a comparable position. The Assistant Principal/Dean of Students position is an administrative at-will position. Reports to: Principal Qualifications: Current CO Principal License preferred, Current CO Teaching License required. Two or more years successful licensed teaching experience. Demonstrated effective leadership skills. CPR and First Aid certification obtained within 90 days following the first date of employment. Responsibilities for: Take an active role in the collaborative work with teachers to improve student achievement. Supervise and evaluate classified and licensed staff as assigned by the Principal. Coordinate the school-level positive bvehavior support system. Coordinate and lead the implementation of the school-level safety plan. Work collaboratively with the Principal to support students who have been referred for behavior issues,. Enter behavior reports in Infinite Campus student data management system Act as the designated student attendance officer for the school. Collaborate with the Principal to design and implement school staff and student handbooks. Collaborate with school staff in the writing of 504 plans and communicating these plans to school staff and parents. Collaborate with school special education staff in the writing of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and facilitating the communication of these plans to school staff and parents. Serve as the Acting Principal in the absence of the Principal. Take an active role in Professional Learning Community committees. Maintain an ongoing effort to promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the community (see BOE Policy Group K). Prepare reports as requested by the Principal. Supervise extra-curricular events as directed by the Principal. Be familiar with and abide by Federal and Colorado laws, Board of Education policies, District Regulations, and school procedures that relate to employment with the District (see BOE Policy Group G). Other duties as assigned by the Principal. ADDITIONAL JOB CONSIDERATIONS: Necessary travel throughout the District requires the use of a private vehicle and Colorado Driver's License. Work outside of regularly scheduled hours may be required to fulfill job duties and responsibilities. Work may need to be performed in narrow, poorly lighted, confined spaces.
