This Position, a physician properly credentialed as a Psychiatrist, is responsible for the delivery of professional and competent psychiatric care (in person and/or by telemedicine) to a full caseload (prorated based on %FTE), to individuals in need of crisis services and/or general psychiatric care. Additional duties may include provision of services to substance use disorder treatment programs.

Responsibilities are delineated in the Position Description, and in summary will include:

In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, provides Assistant Medical Director functions, as assigned, including but not limited to:

  • Provision of direct services and clinical/administrative consultation and oversight for the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team, Crisis Respite Units, Youth Therapeutic Respite Programs, Extended Observation Units (Diversion Units), and other programs as assigned
  • Development and/or review of policies and procedures for crisis services and other programs as assigned
  • Supporting/enhancing program and center leadership, specifically the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Crisis Services
  • Oversight of stock medications for crisis programs, and other programs as assigned, including ordering and storage of controlled substances in compliance with applicable DEA and state regulations
  • Conduct quality review activities as assigned, including medical staff chart reviews and participation in Professional Review Committee meetings. Includes provision of quality improvement recommendations and input to the Chief Medical Officer
  • Ensures compliance with crisis services policies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Residential Nursing and Director of Crisis programs
  • Assistance with physician and other medical staff hiring and recruitment as assigned
  • Oversight of nursing staff, delegation/supervision of nurse practitioners, and/or physician assistants providing services in crisis services and/or other programs throughout BTCS
  • Depending upon credentials and experience, will be considered for service provision and medical oversight of substance use disorder treatment programs

The Position is responsible for maintaining all licensing and certifications necessary for the provision of assigned services, and for compliance with BTCS (and any applicable contracted site) policies, training, procedures, and billing code requirements.

The Position provides services primarily to the Williamson County locations but will be provided to all BTCS or contracted sites, as assigned. Must be able to document services as assigned by the site including the use of an electronic medical record; documentation will be completed within a timely manner as defined by the assigned location. Provision of services in-person and by telemedicine is required.
