Assistant Director of Nursing Education & Simulation Lab Coordinator Location: Great Bend, KS 67530 Department: Nursing & Healthcare Education Job Status: Part-Time Rate of Pay: $47,357.94 - $53,310.83 Annually Position Description Responsible for providing direct support to the Director of Nursing Education. Functions include operations, special projects, new initiatives, simulation lab management and program accreditation. Position Responsibilities 45% - Manage nursing simulation lab to include training faculty, inventory and maintenance of equipment and preparing clinical scenarios.15% - Assist with maintenance of the nursing program's accreditation and approvals. Maintenance of ADN and PN SPE and supportive data.5% - Conduct market and program research; develop program initiatives and complete special projects.5% - Assist with program promotion, recruitment and retention.5% - Assist with institutional and state reports and reviews.5% - Maintain clinical partner agreements.5% - Assist with maintenance of faculty files, i.e., licensure updates, Insure KSBN paperwork up to date, immunizations and maintain communication with clinical sites of updated information. Manage new faculty orientation.5% - Assist with grant applications and implementation as applicable to grant awards.5% - Perform pre-nursing student advisement.5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience - Two years to five years of similar or related experience.Education - A Master's degree or a specialized certification program taking one year or more of coursework beyond a Bachelor's degree.Interpersonal Skills - A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.Other Skills - Master's Degree in Nursing required. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Kansas. Familiar with current and emerging issues in nursing and nursing education. Teaching skills, curriculum development experience , student advisement abilities, student learning assessment abilities and scholastic record-keeping knowledge. Administrative duty education requirements: Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) - Kansas Nurse Practice Act The nurse administrator who is responsible for the development and implementation of the nursing education program shall have had successful experience in administration or teaching and shall have a graduate degree. Each person who is hired as a nurse administrator after July 1, 1999 shall have a graduate degree in nursing, except for any person whose graduate degree is conferred on or before July 1, 1999. Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) requirements - The nursing education unit is administered by a nurse who holds a graduate degree with a major in nursing. The nurse administrator is experientially qualified, meets governing organization and state requirements, and is oriented and mentored to the role. ADN Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) Requirements - possess a current unencumbered Kansas Registered Nurse license AND 1) Each nurse faculty member who is assigned the responsibility of a course shall hold a graduate degree. Each person who is hired as a nurse faculty member after July 1, 2001 shall have a graduate degree in nursing, preferably in the clinical area being taught, except for any person whose graduate degree is conferred before July 1, 2001. 2) Each nurse faculty member responsible for clinical instruction shall possess a graduate degree or provide to the board a faculty degree plan that projects completion of a graduate degree. Each person who is hired as a nurse faculty member responsible for clinical instruction after July 1, 2001 shall meet one of the following: a) Have a graduate degree in nursing, preferably in the clinical area being taught, except for any person whose graduate degree is conferred on or before July 1, 2001; OR b) Provide to the board a faculty degree plan that projects completion of a graduate degree with the graduate degree to be in nursing if the degree is projected to be completed after July 1, 2001. Barton Requirement - minimum of two years professional experience pertinent to teaching area. Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Requirements: Registered Nursing program - full-time faculty hold a minimum of a graduate degree with a major in nursing. This includes those individuals teaching and/or evaluating students in classroom, clinical, or laboratory settings. PN Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) Requirements-possess a current, unencumbered Kansas Registered Nurse license AND 1) "Each nurse faculty member who is assigned the responsibility of a course shall hold a baccalaureate degree. Each person who is hired as a nurse faculty member after July 1, 2001 shall have a baccalaureate or highest degree in nursing except for any person whose degree is conferred on or before July 1, 2001". 2) Each nurse faculty member responsible for clinical instruction shall possess a baccalaureate degree or provide to the board a faculty degree plan that projects completion of a baccalaureate degree. Each person who is hired as a nurse faculty member responsible for clinical instruction after July 1, 2001 shall meet one of the following requirements: a) Have a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing, except for any person whose degree is conferred on or before July 1, 2001; OR b) provide to the board a faculty degree plan that projects completion of a baccalaureate or higher degree, with the degree to be in nursing if the degree is projected to be completed after July 1, 2001. Physical Requirements Simulation Coordinator Duties: The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity. Assistant Director Duties: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings. Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as: body fluids, toxic laboratory, and industrial chemicals. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
