Job Summary Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services, the Assistant Director has overall responsibility for assisting the director in the oversight of cafeteria fund, financial records, financial reporting, procurement and other business functions, including information technology (e.g., Point of Sale and operations data), human resources (e.g., payroll), equipment inventory and maintenance, and waste management. This employee makes decisions which impact the daily operations and implementation of established procedures and policies related to the Child Nutrition Program, helps monitor expenditures and financial reporting, and solves problems requiring analyses of issues. The Assistant Director assists the Director in the overall management of the Nutrition Services Department; performs related duties as assigned. • Bachelor's degree with academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; or
• Bachelor's degree in any academic major, and at least one year of paid or documented unpaid relevant food service experience Licenses/Certificates
• Class C Drivers License is required
• ServSafe Certificate is required and current certification as SafeServ Instructor and Proctor through the National Restaurant Association or the ability to obtain this certification Comments and Other Information Important and essential knowledge, skills and abilities Knowledge of: Accounting, finance, and budget management practices, contract administration; effective administrative and managerial practices; Federal and state regulations and policies pertaining to the operation of the Child Nutrition Programs and various financial procedures as prescribed by the US Department of Agriculture, the California Department of Education, and the Board of Education; Federal and state regulations governing the procurement of food, supplies, equipment, technology and services in the Child Nutrition Program For more information about this position, go to the pdf file here
