J ob Title: Assistant Compliance Director
Job Location: Atlanta, GA (Brookhaven)
Workplace Type: On-site/ In-Office
Workplace Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm
The Assistant Compliance Director will work with teammates in the Regulatory Compliance Department to gain approval and maintain compliance of the company's life and health insurance products, forms, and rates by assisting with various duties as detailed below.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years relevant experience in the insurance industry; product compliance experience is a plus
Strong understanding of life and health insurance products; policy form drafting is a plus
Proficiency with SERFF filing tools and prior experience working with state regulators desired
Excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to break-down and convey complex concepts in a simplified manner
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs, as well as Adobe Pro; ability to quickly learn and assimilate new computer programs and electronic processes into daily activities and procedures
Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to organize materials and information in a logical format to facilitate understanding by many people of varying departmental backgrounds
Strong research capabilities and the ability to assess and analyze the meaning and relativity of the research gathered, and to make a logical determination of a solution within product parameters, regulatory requirements and company policy and procedure
Ability to balance multiple changing demands daily while maintaining focus and executing long-term strategic plans
Education:
LOMA Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and/or LOMA Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC) designation or equivalent industry-specific educational program designations a plus
College degree in risk management, financial services, or legal studies a plus
Position Responsibilities:
Compiling, reviewing and analyzing state and federal laws and regulations to determine the allowable and required standards applicable to the specific product;
Collaborating with the product development stakeholders to draft policy and form language to address risk management relative to the unique product specifications;
Guiding the filing process to ensure the policy and supporting forms are filed and approved by the appropriate state insurance department(s) as required;
Reviewing all product-related sales materials, presentations, articles and social media prior to use to ensure accuracy, compliance with state laws and regulations, and filing requirements;
Maintaining compliance of previously approved forms by identifying changes in state and federal laws and regulations and filing revised forms as necessary;
Educating and notifying home office personnel of product specifications and servicing requirements and providing timely updates of changes in regulatory requirements;
Responding to state insurance department product/process surveys and inquiries in a timely manner;
Directing the filing of annually or periodically required state reports;
Facilitating the implementation of approved products, forms and rates by coordinating with the Product Implementation Team and providing detailed information on the product approval and state variations from the generic product;
Assisting personnel in other departments by answering questions based on knowledge and/or review of product information; and
Coordinating with and/or assisting other company departments with special non-recurring research and/or investigative projects.
