TheUniversity of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UlCOMP) Med-PedsDepartment is seeking a board certified or board-eligible Med-Peds physicianfor a full-time position as a Med-Peds hospitalist. This position will carry a dual appointmentin the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Departments at UICOMP.

The position is asAssistant/Associate Professor orProfessor. The ideal candidate will have completed 4 years of Med-Peds residency and be BC/BE in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. The position includes teaching medicalstudents and residents in the Internal Medicine and Pediatric department on inpatient teaching rounds along withprovide clinical services for patientshospitalized in the Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) and OSF SaintFrancis Medical Center (SFMC); organize and conduct research and QIprograms as desired; and perform other duties of aUniversity faculty member including committee assignments, curriculumdevelopment and administration. As aMed-Peds Hospitalist, opportunities are available for curriculum development,quality improvement, and education and clinical leadership roles in both theInternal Medicine and Pediatric Departments.

The candidate will join the Med-Peds group at UICOMP ascore faculty for the UICOMP Med-Peds residency program. ThePeoria Med-Peds program is one of the largest and most established in thecountry with 8 residents per year, and is known for combining innovative, stateof the art clinical and educational programs with a resident-first, familyfriendly environment. The program isseeking a Clinician Educator with an equal passion for high value,patient-centered clinical care and dynamic, evidence based residenteducation. The Med-Peds Hospital Medicine group at UICOMP is a dynamiceducation-based group of faculty who serve on the inpatient services for theInternal Medicine and Pediatric departments.

Members of the group serve in various academic andclinical leadership positions for both departments, and there are ampleopportunities for scholarship, leadership, and academic advancement within thegroup, as well as within both departments in which we serve.

Theprimary teaching hospitals for the residency and student programs at UICOMP arethe OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) and Saint Francis Medical Center(SFMC). OSF is UICOMP'smain clinical partner. CHOI and SFMC servea 37 county region with a population base of over two million;provide comprehensive services to children and adults respectively as fullservice tertiary care referral centers.

Inaddition to tertiary care clinical services, applicants will have access to theJump Trading Simulation Education Center, a state of the art simulation facilitywith over 40,000 square feet of space forfaculty and other resources. JUMP is ajoint venture between UICOMP and CHOI and is located on the OSF campus. Itis utilized for simulation-based education for UME and GME, and interestedapplicants are able to design curriculum or participate in simulation educationfor UME and GME as desired.

Position Summary

This Med-Peds Hospitalist will have an inpatient position with roles in both the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Department. The Med-Peds Hospitalist will conduct rounds on the inpatient Medicine and Pediatric wards at SFMC and CHOI respectively. They will be responsible for teaching medical students and residents, as well as seeing patients independently on adult and pediatric wards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach medical students and residents in the Internal Medicine and Pediatric department on inpatient teaching rounds
  • Provide clinical services for patients hospitalized in the Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC)
  • Organize and conduct research and QI programs as desired.
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student and resident mentoring, and administrative opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
  • Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.
  • Successful completion of 4 years of Med-Peds residency
  • MD/DO degree
