Interpreter - American Sign Language (ASL)
Hours/Week : Dependent upon the Scheduled Appointment
Location : Onsite Interpreting
We are looking for an American Sign Language contract interpreter to assist with medical assignments in varies area.
Job Duties
Provide interpreting and/or transliterating services for deaf consumers and hearing consumers primarily in the healthcare environment.
Able to sign simultaneously and consecutively from oral spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL)
Able to sign simultaneously consecutively using verbatim, conceptually accurate, or idiomatic methods, as required.
Adheres to interpreter standards of practice and code of ethics.
Provide education to individuals and providers/staff on culturally specific values, beliefs, and practices that are relevant to the encounter.
Work Activities
Confidentiality regarding all interpretations
Use oral/sign communication techniques.
Attend scheduled training or appointments.
Maintain appointment calendar.
Provide quality seamless service to internal and external customers.
Other duties as required per Interpretation needs.
Experience
1 - 5 years of ASL interpreting experience
Healthcare experience preferred.
Education Certification Required
Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
BEI advanced level certification or higher
High school diploma or equivalent
Skills Required

Ability to render precise, accurate interpretation without omissions or additions.
Ability to remain impartial in all situations.
