The Animal Care/Laboratory Assistant (PT) will provide timely support for the organization and management of any third-party audit(s). This individual will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date records of all Butterball internal auditing. Provide physical and organizational support for ongoing research projects taking place in the plant and on farms. While in the laboratory, perform standardized qualitative and quantitative assays to determine physical, chemical, and microbiological properties of food products and other samples. Perform laboratory preparation activities and analyses to provide useful, accurate technical information to necessary personnel. Accurately record results and data and maintain corresponding databases.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

Receives, logs, and stores laboratory samples.

Prepares standard solutions and reagents for use in microbiological/chemical testing.

Maintain stock of lab materials.

Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment.

Routine verification/calibration of lab equipment.

Perform microbiological analyses of food ingredients, raw and finished food samples, and environmental samples using established microbiological methods and procedures.

Enter sample and test data into computer databases to ensure products are meeting published customer service standards.

Record and compile test results and prepare graphs, charts, and reports.

Organizes historical Quality Assurance (QA) records.

Provides support with administrative tasks.

Serves as a liaison between the QA team and other departments by facilitating effective communication.

Provide support for ongoing QA special projects in plant and on farm.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Exceptional ability to organize and manage tasks.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with impressive presentation abilities.

Strong time management abilities.

Capable of independently accomplishing assigned tasks.

Ability to follow workplace, food safety, biosecurity, and animal care policies/procedures.

Proficiency in use of word processing and spreadsheet software.

Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.

Use scientific rules and methods to solve problems.

Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Working Conditions:

Standing for prolonged periods of time.

Gripping, grasping, or twisting using hands and wrists.

Bending and/or stooping repetitively throughout the duration of shift.

Working with live animals in a farm environment.

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Reliable transportation & a valid driver's license are required.
