The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota invites applications from board-certified or board-eligible Interventional Pain Medicine Physicians to join our growing program in Minneapolis, MN. The successful candidate will be appointed to an academic rank and appointment track commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Position Overview:

  • Join a collegial department of more than 60 Anesthesiologists, including three Pain Medicine faculty members.
  • Deliver clinical care within a dynamic outpatient Interventional Pain management practice, encompassing consultation clinic and interventional procedure clinics.
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans for both new and existing patients, and identify the specific conditions and patients needs to ultimately decrease pain and increase function.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of Neuromusculoskeletal specialists including Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Internal Medicine, and various medicine subspecialties.
  • Outpatient therapy services are provided by specialized therapists focused on neuro and musculoskeletal pain.
  • Practice at a state-of-the-art Clinic and Surgery Center located on the main University of Minnesota campus.
  • This position will assume responsibilities within the operating room, with preference given to candidates proficient in regional anesthesia techniques.
  • Excellent work-life balance with 1:10 call schedule potentially involving regional service, operating room, or pain medicine.
  • Engage in teaching opportunities with residents and fellows (including a pain management fellowship) and ASA endorsed simulation center.

Requirements:

  • BC/BE in Anesthesiology with fellowship training in Pain Medicine.
  • Candidates should have competency in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar epidural/facet injections, advanced interventional pain techniques, spine RFA, and radiographic imaging. SCS and Ultrasound expertise is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
  • Ability to work in the United States.
