Dow is hiring a Laboratory Technician position within the Product Safety Laboratory group of the Toxicology, Environmental Research and Consulting Laboratory in Midland, MI. About you You will partner with a team of study personnel and provide analytical chemistry support for toxicology, environmental and food contact studies ranging from dose concentration studies to trace analytical quantitation of compounds in biological and environmental matrices. Some of the work will be conducted following regulatory guidelines (Good Laboratory Practices), but all will ultimately be submitted to regulatory agencies for review in support of the safety assessments of Dow products. Also, you can complete each of the following tasks: Work in a safe manner in accordance with facility and site EH&S policies Support analytical, food contact and environmental testing as directed by project leads Provide support in instrument set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting (GC, HPLC, ICP-MS) Participate in technical training to attain on-the-job proficiency Ensure data collection, interpretation, and documentation are done with high quality and in accordance with GLP requirements Participate in good housekeeping practices Required qualifications This position requires a minimum of an AS in a science related field or at least 60 college credits with 15 credits in a science field. A BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Environmental Science is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting The willingness to work with biological matrices and radioactivity Proficiency in computer-based applications (including Word and Excel) and have the ability to learn new systems quickly Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include: A desire to continually learn and be an active member of the product safety laboratory team A strong commitment to safety Strong technical and interpersonal skills Excellent multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills Good written and spoken communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a careful attention to detail Additional notes No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process We do not offer relocation assistance for Dow jobs like this position.
