All Skill Responsible for performing general labor as part of a team that is responsible for track projects including construction, maintenance, inspections, and service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Driving spikes Moving and setting cross ties and lengths of steel rail Shoveling stone Adjusting switches Lubricating switches Tightening track bolts Checking track gauge Checking cross level Carrying track jack (approx 40 lbs) Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma/GED preferred Military Experience would be helpful LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
