AmeriCorps Education Team Leader - Sisters, OR This is a full-time position as an AmeriCorps member of Heart of Oregon Corps YouthBuild located in beautiful Sisters, Oregon. Education Team Leader AmeriCorps members are responsible for assisting program teachers and construction instructors in improving the language arts, mathematical, science, social science and work readiness skills of program participants as these participants study to achieve a GED, high school diploma, and industry recognized certificates. AmeriCorps members will additionally assist participants with job readiness and college readiness. The Education Team Leader AmeriCorps member will be working with young people who want to transform their lives and roles in society through earning their GED, high school diploma, college credits, learning job skills, and serving their community through building affordable housing. Members in our program divide their time between classroom, field (construction sites), and leadership development. • Assist teachers and construction instructors with the planning and implementation of classroom activities in the areas of language arts, math, science, health, careers, social science, and construction classes (NCCER curriculum).
• Assist teachers and instructors with the implementation of job readiness training to all YouthBuild participants.
• Support YouthBuild participants in researching possible careers and college placement options.
• Participate in Heart of Oregon Corps, YouthBuild USA, and AmeriCorps training, service projects, and other activities.
• Assist with the planning and/or implementation of a project on a designated national days of service.
• Promote service learning within the classroom.
• Assist in the delivery of other program services as assigned to the extent that it is not in conflict with the primary position responsibilities or any AmeriCorps provision including the AmeriCorps Prohibited Activities.
