Duties Operates, analyzes performance, troubleshoots, inspects, installs, maintains, overhauls, repairs and modifies operational ordnance system(s) and subsystems consisting of numerous complex electronic components in fighter aircraft. Analyzes performance and isolate malfunctions to individual subsystems and or components. Reviews and analyzes aircrew debriefs and data transfer equipment information to aid in resolving in-flight discrepancies encountered. Isolates unusual system anomalies within the complete system using technical manuals, schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Solves aircraft ordnance malfunctions by analyzing the installation, circuitry and operating characteristics of the electronic ordnance system. Isolates malfunctions and identifies if failures are in specific LRU's, aircraft weapons, avionics multiplex data bus matrix assemblies, or aircraft digital data wiring. Performs bench checks to determine extent of repair needed and accomplishes Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) and modifications of components and software and tests for proper operation. Ensures all munitions are inventoried at the start and completion of the work shift. Adjusts, installs and removes cartridges and squibs for tanks and pylons and chaff/flare systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising. In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the indefinite appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status. Employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position. The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible. Advanced in hire rate may be granted to set pay above the minimum rate of the grade for a new employee if he/she possesses superior qualifications relevant to the positions' requirement and is essential to accomplish the agency's mission. Must be able to obtain certification in the Personnel Reliability Assurance Program (PRAP) within 1 year of employment. Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Maximum Military Grade - TSgt (E-6) Minimum Military Grade - SrA (E-4) Enlisted - AFSC 2W1X1 Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates your ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components using sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications and engineering drawings in accomplishing this work, and skilled in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic checks. WG-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must possess 18 months of specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to perform on and/or off equipment inspection, modify, overhaul, troubleshoot and repair capability of weapons release and gun systems; verify and analyze malfunctions; troubleshoot, test, inspect and load/unload conventional munitions; and install/remove weapons delivery equipment, launchers and gun systems. The specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability to plan and layout the repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems; diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions and determine remedy where complex relationships exist; experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment; use a variety of test equipment; and interpret technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. Must currently possess or have held AFSC 2W1XX. Education This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
