Job Description: TSC's Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (AISR) Division is actively recruiting a dynamic Aviation Crew Chief to support ground and flight operations at an OCONUS location. Crew Chiefs with experience on the RQ-29, Long Endurance Aircraft (LEA), are encouraged to apply. The selected individual will ensure compliance with contractual and internal requirements to ensure operational maintenance procedures are followed and daily flight operations meets the high-quality performance standard that our customers demand. As an integral member of the operational team, other duties may be assigned. Responsibilities: Responsible for safe and effective daily operations of aircraft maintenance and flight line operations at an OCONUS site location. Remain in compliance with ground and flight procedures, training procedures, and standards and evaluation procedures. Adhere to worksite safety, digital and paper logbooks, maintenance records, FOD and tool control, Technical Orders, part accounting. Complete timely and accurate maintenance records.
Prepare detailed technical reports and briefings to operations managers and engineering.
Maintain accountability of COMSEC equipment and associated hardware.
Track consumables, record MX failures and support MTBO / MTBF data tracking.
Meet aircraft maintenance milestones.
Assist in maintaining a list of critical parts and components needed to keep the site on time and on schedule.
Account for all parts and tools used during each shift.
Responsible for the Technical Inspection (TI) of the aircraft and sign-off work performed. Required Knowledge: Thorough understanding of all aspects of airframe, powerplant, electrical systems, mechanical systems, RF systems, troubleshooting.
Experience with FAA, ICAO, and DoD Flight and Maintenance standards, airworthiness, and safety.
Adherence to DCMA procedures and reporting maintenance in logbooks.
Comprehension of maintenance manuals, Technical Orders, Compliance Procedures.
FOD control program adherence.
Property control and logistics of Government Furnished Equipment and COMSEC.
Required Skills: Exceptional knowledge of aviation flight line procedures and Maintenance Operations. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Excellent organization and planning skills, and excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and get along with others. Ability to review, interpret, and apply industry standards (FAA/IACO/DoD) and ensure compliance to contract terms and requirements. Knowledge and experience with Air Vehicle Systems and subsystems, and Technical Manuals (General Systems, Job Guides, Work Instructions, Fault Isolation, etc.). Maintain Aircraft System maintenance logs and configuration with Logistician. Ability to obtain Crew Chief Designation after initial training. Computer Skills Highly Proficient in Microsoft office suite. Able to create documents, spreadsheets or presentation products quickly and efficiently. Experience with technical writing, preparation of reports in Adobe. Digital computer logging of Aviation Maintenance procedures - familiarity with commercial/military requirements for logging and maintaining aircraft statuses. Understanding MS Windows computer functions and ability to teach others how to navigate digital maintenance resources. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.
3+ years (preferred) Maintenance experience on Flight Line or in UAS flight operations
Knowledge and experience with group 3-5 UAS and subsystems.
Knowledge and experience with Aircraft Technical Manuals (General Systems, Job Guides, Fault Isolation, etc.).
Experience installing and maintaining electrical systems.
Troubleshooting electrical issues, and ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics, and understand the theory of operation.
Experience with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions and electrical safety measures.
Experience using multimeter, oscilloscope, and like equipment to test electrical systems.
Experienced in composite repair (desired).
Ability to perform line and site level maintenance and repairs.
RQ-29 Long Endurance Aircraft (LEA) Crew Chief Qualification.
Active SECRET security clearance.
FAA A&P or equivalent (preferred).
FAA Class 3 Medical.
Work Experience in aviation field in OCONUS (deployed) location.
Clean Background Check.
Physical Work environment: The position will require working in austere locations with limited access to selective food; shelter provided at worksite. Ability to work outside for 12 hour shifts in >100 deg F weather. Ability to lift overhead items. While performing work duties, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit and stand and reach with hands and arms. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to walk on flight lines and on ramps 1+ miles per day. Safety Equipment used: Ability to use PPE for mechanical, audible, and chemical hazards. Additional equipment based on occupational hazard (situation dependent). Medical requirements: A FAA class 3 flight physical is required annually. In addition to being found fit for the specific deployment by a medical and dental evaluation prior to deployment, there is also the requirement to comply with additional medical restrictions IAW MOD 17. MOD 17 is a set of physical and psychological standards put forward by the United States Central Command, and applies to all U.S. uniformed service members, government civilian employees, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contractor employees, and volunteers deploying to CENTCOM's area of responsibility. Final determination for approval resides with the CENTCOM Surgeon prior to deployment.
