POSITION: Paraeducator JOB DESCRIPTION: Under supervision, to perform instructional activities and as directed by a certificated employee or administrator; and to perform all related duties as assigned. EXAMPLE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises; tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities; monitor and assist students through drill, practice and study activities following the presentation of instruction concepts by instructional personnel; supervise classroom, playground, and study trip activities; read to students, explain words and meanings, rephrase materials and provide similar learning examples, assist in the management and shaping of student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies; assist in the development of a variety of instructional materials for use with individual and small groups of students or in activity centers; help to administer and correct standardized tests, operate a variety of instructional media, office machines, and equipment; operate audiovisual equipment; accompany students on filed trips as per CSEA contract; assist in maintaining a neat, orderly, and attractive learning environment by performing such tasks as straightening the room, arranging displays, or preparing bulletin boards; may assist in parent conferences; may administer basic first aid; will use abilities in dealing with assigned duties related to student, public, and staff, and will assist in cafeteria assignments and yard duty. EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate or equivalent; and have an AA degree or college transcripts showing 48 semester units of college level course work that includes Mathematics and English/Language Arts or pass the Paraeducator/Instructional Assistant Assessment Test (CODESP) given by the Colusa County Office of Education. WORK SCHEDULE: 3.5 hours per day, 176 paid days per year, 4 floater days ORGANIZATIONAL/RELATIONSHIP: Directly responsible to the Principal and Vice Principal.
