Position Description

The Advocate Second Shift position is responsible for implementing various group and individual program components at House of Hope during the afternoon and evening hours. This includes coaching residents on independent living skills and direct support as needed. They are responsible for the supervision and support of the residents and children at House of Hope. This position also ensures that House of Hope models a clean and healthy living environment. The ideal candidate will have passion and enthusiasm for working with people.


Essential Duties

Plans, implements, administers, and evaluates direct client services in coordination with case plans and individual needs. Ensures a clean, organized, and healthy environment for clients. Supports clients in achieving their goals in the areas of parenting, education, employment, and stable housing.


Program Implementation

Maintain positive relationships with residents/clients, staff, volunteers, community groups, and organizations

Provide intake interviews and program orientation as required.

Maintain required records and logs for each client.

Support clients in accomplishing the goals in their individualized case plans.

Support clients regarding daily living skills, parenting, personal care, and residential policies.

Provide crisis intervention when necessary.

Provide a positive role model from which clients can grow and develop.

Provide care for infants and children in the Hope Center shelter care facility.


Administrative and Facility-Related Responsibilities

Perform required cleaning and maintenance tasks of the interior and exterior of the facility.

Provide tours, program information and hospitality as needed for volunteers.

Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings.

Carry out all other duties and programs as assigned.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check.
  • High school diploma required; degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Development, Child/Youth Development or related field preferred.
  • An ability to safely provide direct services to individuals experiencing homelessness as well as young parents and their children.
  • Appropriate interpersonal communication skills and a sensitivity and understanding of the needs of a diverse, multicultural clientele.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to maintain flexible work hours.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and to make effective use of time.
