Adult Behavioral Health Social Worker Opportunity - Owosso, MI

About the Position:
  • The Social Worker is responsible for creating outcomes for the patient and family by managing complex psychosocial and economic co-morbidities.
  • Provides education and consultation regarding resources, collaborates to develop a discharge plan and facilitates and monitors its implementation.
  • Assists patient/family adjust to and cope with illness, diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.
  • Through advanced practice skills mobilizes resources to reduce risk, serves as a liaison between the hospital and the community.
  • In addition, offers crisis interventions to patient/family.
  • Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product of service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience.
  • As a customer-focused Memorial Healthcare team member, he/she must be accessible, flexible, knowledgeable, and responsive.

Current Schedule: Week 1: 7:30A - 4P Wednesday - Friday
Week 2: 7:30A - 4P Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Friday

Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience - Required
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university - Required
  • LMSW - Required
  • Mental Health Experience running psychotherapy groups - Required
  • At least two years of experience in an inpatient or outpatient facility - preferred
  • Clinical grief counseling experience - preferred
  • Covid Vaccine - Required
Certification and License Requirements:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • State License
    • Michigan
    • Active at time of submission.
About the Facility:
  • The facility is a 150-bed hospital and healthcare organization serving the greater Shiawassee County area. Our services range from primary care for the whole family to specialty care in areas such as general, neurology, orthopedic, gynecological, urology and endocrinology.
  • The facility places emphasis on maintaining mental wellness for patients suffering from a behavioral health disorder. The team of psychiatrists, recreational therapists, social workers, mental health technicians, and registered nurses (RNs) ensures each patient receives the level of care they require. With 19 beds in our inpatient unit, individuals can obtain 24-hour care with an experienced staff. Each patient's treatment plan is tailored to their needs, customizing it to fit the unique requirements of both the patient and their family.
  • Treating a mental health disorder combines assessment, psychopharmacology, education, and therapy to raise self-esteem and develop healthy coping mechanisms. The facility also conducts therapeutic activities, therapy group sessions, and family therapy sessions to create social relationships with others. Patients typically stay around three to seven days, which can be extended if needed. Following the patient's care, physicians continue to ensure mental wellness by assigning aftercare procedures, such as medication or additional therapy.
