Position Summary

Admitting Representative is responsible for interviews patients to obtain financial, demographic information and obtain Patient's/patient's representative signatures.

Minimum Qualification

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months experience preferred in general and/or medical office with customer service experience.
  • Experience with handling cash, typing and computers.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Essential Job Functional

  • Meets all active working position requirements in regards to accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of work performed.
  • Fully competent in PBX operations, handles payments and upfront collections as required, and assists as requested in the QA process.
  • Indexes orders in Order Facilitator and enters accurate and timely orders for designated patient exams.
  • Responds to requests from other departments that directly affect patient care in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Achieves and maintains active knowledge of the PTAC.001 Meditech Admissions policy in order to achieve and maintain registration accuracy of 95% or better.
  • Maintains department upfront collection scores
  • Assesses Admitting area to ensure patient wait times are under the department goal.
  • Covers switchboard duties as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of patient rights and position specific advance directives. Considers patients/families language, cultural, and religious beliefs when providing service. Performs well in stress and emergency situations.
  • CMS Admitting requirements are followed, IM Letters, MSP Questionnaire, etc.
  • Understands insurance authorizations and medical necessity.
  • Maintain productivity standards set by management.
  • Register lab referrals in a timely manner.
  • Self-audit all Meditech scanned documents prior to shift end.
  • Assist Information Desk/Receptionist as needed.
  • Manage all patient tracking boards.
