Position Title Adjunct for Comprehensive Oral Implantology Department Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences Position Reports to Program Director of Comprehensive Oral Implantology Effective Date January 1, 2023 Status Adjunct Job Summary The Jacksonville University Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences' Comprehensive Oral Implantology Program seeks candidates for an Adjunct Position. The successful candidate will join a diverse group of faculty, clinical directors, residents, and staff in their mission to achieve excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Duties/Responsibilities Lecture courses are usually taught in the evenings at 8 PM ET and are fully online. Adjunct faculty members must perform all duties associated with teaching courses at the graduate level. These duties include: Course development Creating a syllabus that includes course objectives, assignments, assessments, and rubrics. Providing lectures to fulfill the course objectives. Leading class discussions Grading assessments and providing final student assessments. Providing prompt responses to student questions. Required Skills/Abilities Diagnosis and treatment planning Socket grafting, guided bone regeneration, and maxillary sinus augmentation Overview of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures The mandible, maxilla and bone physiology/repair Overview of implants, their concepts, techniques and maintenanceSoft tissue management Fixed and removable prosthodontics in implant dentistry Periodontal aspects of implant dentistry and peri-implantitis prevention and treatment Advanced dental implant procedures including zygomatic and pterygoid implants Management of implant-related complications Overview of head, neck and plastic surgery surgical procedures Laser surgery and treatments Computer-assisted surgery Utilization of artificial intelligence in medicine/dentistry Management of medically compromised patients Pharmacological considerations for implant dentistry Conscious sedation of the implant patient Preferred Skills and Experience Diagnosis and treatment planning Socket grafting, guided bone regeneration, and maxillary sinus augmentation Overview of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures The mandible, maxilla and bone physiology/repair Overview of implants, their concepts, techniques and maintenance Soft tissue management Fixed and removable prosthodontics in implant dentistry Periodontal aspects of implant dentistry and peri-implantitis prevention and treatment Advanced dental implant procedures including zygomatic and pterygoid implants Management of implant-related complications Overview of head, neck and plastic surgery surgical procedures Laser surgery and treatments Computer-assisted surgery Utilization of artificial intelligence in medicine/dentistry Management of medically compromised patients Pharmacological considerations for implant dentistry Conscious sedation of the implant patient Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience Candidate must possess a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Physical Requirements Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
