Adjunct Faculty in Art The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty in Art. Position Details Location Hattiesburg 118 College Drive Hattiesburg, Mississippi, United States Division School of Performing and Visual Arts Position Type Faculty Employment Status Part Time Grant Funded No Posting Close Date May 31, 2024 Special Instructions to Applicants Courses needing adjunct instruction vary from semester to semester. Assignments are determined based on expertise of applicants. Applications for this position will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed. Applicants should indicate which campus or teaching sites they are willing to accept these interim assignments at in their cover letter. Job Summary This position instructs in areas in the Art and Design program, including but not limited to design, painting, drawing, history, graphic design, sculpture, Art Appreciation. Primary Duties and Responsibilities + Instruction of assigned classes. + Provide interim and final grades for enrolled students. + Provide data for General Education Curriculum assessment based on student achievement in the course as needed. + Be available to student through office hours (face to face or virtual). + Be responsive to students and director/staff via USM email. + Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MFA in Art or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent professional experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Knowledge of the history of art and of the influence of art on culture (for Art Appreciation courses). Preferred Qualifications Experience in teaching in higher education to teach in online platform.
