Our client, a very well-known, international non-profit in Washington, DC is looking to hire an AP Specialist to their team. The AP Specialist is responsible for processing all payable transactions and maintaining accurate records of such transactions. This position reports directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and will work closely with other members of the Finance team.


This role is HYBRID with 2 days/week onsite in the office, and 3 days remote. Also there is street parking, a garage, and metro accessibility to the office as it is central to all restaurants and shops too.

Accounts Payable Job Responsibilities:

  • Review invoices submitted by staff for completeness including coding, and process for payment by check, EFT, or wire transfers as appropriate.
  • Ensure correct vendor setup including collection of completed W9s and identifying vendors that may require a 1099.
  • Prepare wire transfer payments using Bank web portal, follow-up with the bank as necessary to resolve any issues.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions in NetSuite
  • Assist the Senior Accounting Manager with month-end close tasks related to Accounts Payables
  • Assist in the annual audit process by preparing auditor requests related to Accounts Payables
  • Other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned

Accounts Payable Job Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business OR AA degree
  • 1-3+ years Accounts Payable or General Accounting experience
  • NFP industry experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in the use of various Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite or other such ERP systems is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
