We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. As an Accounting Specialist with Government Contracting experience, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial operations related to our government contracting business. Your expertise in government contracting, particularly with 8(a)/small business and DCAA requirements, will be essential to ensure compliance, efficiency, and financial success in this specialized area. Responsibilities:
1. Assist in all financial aspects of a small government contracting business, including day-to-day bookkeeping, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
2. Ensure adherence to contract terms and conditions, compliance with applicable regulations, and timely invoicing
3. Develop and maintain financial models and analysis to support strategic decision-making
4. Create and maintain core reports in MS Excel
5. Collaborate with the management team to provide insights on financial performance and potential risks
6. Assist in calculating indirect rate pools and post labor distributions
7. Provide support for DCAA incurred costs and billing audits
8. Review billing requirements on new contracts and set up billing process
9. Assist in the budgeting process for government contracts, working closely with program managers and stakeholders 10. Provide accurate and timely forecasts to guide financial planning and resource allocation
11. Stay up-to-date with government contracting regulations, 8(a), or small business requirements, and ensure our financial practices comply with all relevant laws and guidelines
12. Implement cost control measures to optimize resource allocation and maximize profitability. Identify opportunities for process improvement and financial efficiency
13. Prepare regular financial reports for management and external stakeholders, including government agencies. Ensure accuracy, transparency, and timeliness of financial information
14. Facilitate financial audits - both internal and external Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Proven experience with Accounting in a Government Contracting environment, with expertise in 8(a) or small business requirements.

• Experience with using QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office products - particularly MS Excel

• Knowledge of US GAAP, FAR, CAS

• Solid understanding of, or the ability to interpret government contracting regulations, including FAR, DFAR, and other applicable laws, as well as various contract types including Firm Fixed Price, Cost Plus Fixed Fee, Time and Materials, etc.

• Strong analytical skills and experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex financial situations and adapt to changing requirements.

• Excellent time management skills / ability to prioritize

• Competent to function with minimal supervision
